This year’s edition of the Metallivuori festival was full of metal stars from all over Finland and beyond. The festival took place on July 10th and 11th, 2026, in its regular spot, Uittamon Paviljonki, located on a tall cliff overlooking the channel between the Turku mainland and Hirvensalo, hence the name of the festival.
The first day of Metallivuori started strong with the performance of AWAKE AGAIN on the Puistolava, who definitely are no strangers to having fun on stage and getting the crowd moving. After that great concert, we all moved indoors to the Paviljonki, where Turku Rock Academy set up their stage. The first band to play on it was TRA’s very own BLOODY MOON, who just released their new single “Maniac.” Following that, we went back to the main stage to watch FEAR OF DOMINATION’s incredibly energetic performance. Then back inside to the TRA stage, where the rising stars of thrash metal from BRAINTERROR were already setting up. To nobody’s surprise, the hall was absolutely full, to the point where people were standing on the stairs and on a nearby hill to watch them play.
Next band of the day was incredible, LUNA KILLS. Emerging from thick smoke, ethereal yet razor-sharp, they turned the main stage into a work of art. Moving back inside, we saw another great band from the Turku Rock Academy, KANTOR, who never fail to deliver some top-tier quality melodeath. In the meantime, back on Puistolava, LÄHIÖBOTOX was preparing to play and to later tear us all to absolute shreds with their signature high-energy sound.
The last band to play on the Turku Rock Academy stage on Friday was very well known to the local metal audience, BLOOD RED NAILS, followed by the performance of the headliner of the day on the main stage – KORPIKLAANI, who transported us to the deep forest with their folky, hypnotising chants. Everyone left in great spirits, hungry for more, and ready for Metallivuori’s second day…
