October began on a dark note at Bibelot in Dordrecht, where BELPHEGOR brought their Praise the Beast European Tour to the Netherlands. With a lineup spanning black metal, death metal and the more unconventional edges of extreme metal, the evening gradually built from raw aggression to a full-blown theatrical spectacle.
A CALL FOR REVENGE opened the night with a fierce combination of black metal and beatdown hardcore influences. Their sound was aggressive and direct, driven by crushing breakdowns and an uncompromising intensity that set the tone for the heavier music to come.
Dutch black metal formation ASAGRAUM followed with a darker, more controlled performance. Their raw, traditional sound and commanding execution created an icy atmosphere, keeping the focus firmly on the music rather than relying on excessive stage theatrics.
The energy shifted considerably when Brazilian death metal veterans KRISIUN took the stage. With decades of experience behind them, the trio delivered a relentless assault of rapid-fire drumming, crushing riffs, and deep, guttural vocals. Their strong connection with the audience soon sparked movement in the pit, turning the room into a much more physical and energetic space.
Finally, BELPHEGOR set foot on stage. Demonstrating that extreme metal can be as much about visual spectacle as musical brutality. The Austrians struck an impressive balance between theatrical presentation and tight, punishing musicianship. Dark imagery, sinister stage props, and bursts of fire added to the atmosphere without overshadowing the music itself. As the set progressed, the performance became increasingly immersive, with the band moving effortlessly between ritualistic tension and full-force blackened death metal. With an enthusiastic crowd and a set drawing from different periods of their career, BELPHEGOR delivered a fittingly dark conclusion to the evening.
