TERRAVOID are a progressive metal band from Sweden comprised of one man, Oliver Palmqvist. Formed in 2019 by this vocalist (whom you may also know from PHIDION), who is the main force behind the project, TERRAVOID promises progressive music with sci-fi settings and philosophical concepts in their most recent release, “Ectogenesis.” Today we have the playlist of Oliver Palmqvist‘s life for you!

1. The first song you remember hearing as a child

Apart from various nursery rhymes and children’s songs, it was when I heard “I Love it Loud” by KISS on a Swedish TV game show when I was around 5 years old. I got into heavier music right from the start. For some reason I never really got into KISS after that though.

2. The first song you can recall ever really and truly loving

“The Final Countdown” by EUROPE from the same TV show a few episodes later. I really liked the melodic touch to it back then. That’s probably the thing that ruined KISS for me. Other bands came along right after and made rock music sound better haha.

3. A song that you loved as a teenager/reminds you of high school

I was in many different “phases” in my teen years so it’s a lot to decide from. I really started to get into old school thrash metal in high school so I’ll say the whole “Under the Influence” album by OVERKILL. That was a favorite for sure.

4. The song or band that got you into metal music

“Astro Creep 2000” by WHITE ZOMBIE was the first real metal album I ever heard a year or two after that TV show I mentioned earlier. It completely blew my mind back then. It’s still one of my favorite albums.

5. The most recent song to get stuck in your head

Either “Veronica’s Room” by SECRETS OF THE MOON, “God Knows Why” by MEDICO PESTE or “Golgota 2045” by BIESY. All three have been spinning constantly both in the stereo and in my head lately. I’ve been listening to a lot of weird Polish black metal for the last few months. Great stuff.

6. Your guilty pleasure song/band

I like a few numetal bands like SYSTEM OF A DOWN, late ’90s KORN and the DEFTONES. That’s really considered heresy among my friends, so probably that. TALLAH is another newer band that has adapted the old KORN/SLIPKNOT sound so I’ll go with them. Completely insane dudes! Apart from that I also like singer/songwriters and ’80s synth pop, but that I think is more acceptable among people in general.

7. The first album you bought with your own money/the first album you were really excited to own

“Sacrifice” by MOTÖRHEAD.

8. A song that makes you want to curl up on the couch with a hot beverage

Either “Harvest” by OPETH or “Sanctification” by ANTIMATTER.

9. A song to blast at full volume while you’re on the road

I don’t have a driving license but if I had I would probably blast some thrash metal. VIO-LENCE or DEMOLITION HAMMER. Then I would probably end up in a car crash, hehe.

10. The song you’d most like to be played at your funeral

“Surprise, You’re Dead!” by FAITH NO MORE.

“Ectogenesis” was release in March 2021 and can be heard online on YouTube or streamed on Spotify:
