Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Saarihelvetti, the festival set over the beautiful island of Viikinsaari, took place on August 2nd and August 3rd, 2024. This year’s festival brought together metal enthusiasts from across Finland and beyond, offering a blend of atmospheric beauty and relentless heaviness.
The festival’s conclusion once again showcased local talents like ST. AURORA, MORS SUBITA, IKINÄ, BEFORE THE DAWN, and I AM YOUR GOD, alongside Finnish festival staples like TURMION KÄTILÖT, ENSIFERUM, and FINNTROLL. The lineup also featured internationally acclaimed acts like ABORTED, AD INFINITUM, and MORTIIS.
One of the festival’s highlights was, naturally, Finnish folk metal legends ENSIFERUM, who have a knack for riling up an audience to the maximum. Despite the muddy conditions, the crowd eagerly formed a massive circle pit. The set included 10 songs, with the standout being the new single, “Winter Storm Vigilantes.”
AD INFINITUM experienced their live debut in Finland. It was hard to believe it was the band’s first time on Finnish soil, but fans were thrilled to witness this milestone. The audience was also treated to the live debut of their new song, “My Halo,” a special moment for Finnish fans. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see them again, as they will return to Finland on tour with ELUVEITIE in early 2025.
Another exciting addition to this year’s lineup was MORTIIS, who promised a set dedicated to “Født Til Å Herske,” and the Norwegian artist certainly delivered, adding variety to an already diverse lineup. Altogether, Saarihelvetti 2024 was once again a fantastic experience, and we can’t wait to return to the idyllic Viikinsaari in 2025! Check our photo gallery here…
