After a successful first edition, it was time for the second installment of Into the Void. A full day of stoner, sludge, and a bit of doom took over the Effenaar venue on February 24th, 2024, providing a very nice and cozy experience for all lovers of these genres. The lineup featured a variety of European bands with different styles.

Opening the festival was the Dutch band TER ZIELE, delivering an explosive performance that attracted a surprisingly large following. Their blend of sludge, doom, and black metal showcased their skill on stage, making them a band to watch.

Throughout the day, several bands delivered enjoyable performances, although some didn’t leave a lasting impression compared to others. MARS RED SKY seemed a bit lost on the big stage, while bands like 1782 and ENDONOMOS, although musically solid, didn’t stand out as much. Unfortunately, we missed ONHOU while grabbing a bite to eat. However, the Swedish band SKRAECKOEDLAN impressed with their psychedelic approach, despite some vocal inconsistencies.

The Italian band BLACK RAINBOWS treated the audience to fuzzy and groovy stoner rock reminiscent of KYUSS and FU MANCHU. Their straightforward style and tempo changes kept the energy high. Another standout was the Swedish band GAUPA, whose energetic performance blended psychedelic rock with catchy riffs and vocals.

The Greek band ACID MAMMOTH filled the small hall to capacity with their stoner-doom sound, drawing inspiration from BLACK SABBATH. Their infectious enthusiasm and energetic performance electrified the crowd.

However, the biggest highlight was TRUCKFIGHTERS, whose energetic and frenetic set brought the house down. With their high-energy stoner rock and infectious stage presence, they had the audience fully engaged. The Dutch band RRRAGS faced a tough task following TRUCKFIGHTERS, but they quickly won over the audience with their fusion of ’70s and ’90s rock with trippy psychedelic sounds and bluesy undertones.

As the headliner, GRAVEYARD faced the challenge of topping the bands that preceded them. While they delivered a solid performance fueled by great riffs and grooves, some attendees left early, perhaps due to the late hour. Nevertheless, GRAVEYARD showcased their years of skill and experience, with Joakim‘s raw-edged vocals standing out.
