Antony Parviainen‘s comeback band, PSYCHEWORK, are back again with their latest single and second new release from their upcoming third album, set for release in 2022 via Ranka Kustannus. This new song, “Victorious,” was released on June 18th, 2021, and we caught the band after their set at virtual Nummirock to chat about the song and what’s new.
PSYCHEWORK are known for being extremely bombastic and dramatic in their compositions and though “Victorious” doesn’t dabble in prog the way some of their other material has, this new and empowering piece manages to still do what this band always does: keep it tight and interesting. The fabulous compositional duo of Antony Parviainen and J-V Hintikka is truly one of Finland’s most underrated, as Hintikka is such a stylish guitarist with incredibly creative riffing and melodies, while Parviainen‘s strong, wailing voice can’t but make the listener feel like pushing through the struggles to come out the other side on top.
This new song comes with a very tight performance music video, which was recorded earlier this year. Unfortunately, there are no recent live shows from which footage was taken, but this allowed the band to fine-tune the video for optimal energy. Ultimately, if you’re looking for another upbeat and hard-hitting track for your summer playlists, “Victorious” should definitely be considered.
