With autumn here, it’s time for many to put aside the speedy party anthems of summer and relax to some chill, groovy tunes. Fortunately, Mr. Fastfinger (aka Mika Tyyskä) has released a new album that is just what the doctor ordered.
Mr. Fastfinger is a fictional character who has gained renown for guitar workshops and just generally being awesome at guitar. The new album, “Mountain Tone,” was released on October 8th, 2019, and features eight groovy yet shredding instrumental, guitar-focused tracks, such as “The Hills (1986).”
This featured single, like the rest of the album, is focused mainly on the skilled guitar playing, though there is also bass, drums, and synth present, giving the music a very ’80s new wave feel. Never fear though, it still rocks, particularly in the second half, which is just pure shred. This is exactly the sort of music you could put on in the morning while you drink your coffee to give you some energy (but not too much) to get your day going. If you’re into Jason Becker, G3, or any of that guitar-oriented rock and metal, you should give this a spin!
