The official countdown to Helsinki’s favorite festival has begun, less than two weeks to go until the heavy metal party can begin at Tuska Festival. SUNDAY 1 JULY 2018
BLACK ROYAL (FI) – Death/Sludge Metal
Not that long ago BLACK ROYAL from Tampere released their strong debut album “Lightbringer” and managed to impress a whole lot of people. It’s no surprise that they are now playing at Tuska Festival. Their music has been described as “Death Blues” since they combine modern death metal with classic seventies influences and nineties death metal.
TEMPLE BALLS (FI) – Hard Rock
The five-piece hard rock act TEMPLE BALLS from Oulu, managed to surprise the world with their debut album “Traded Dreams”; which resulted in opening for bands such as Queen, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep.
BLIND CHANNEL – Alternative Rock
BLIND CHANNEL is a fresh, energetic, up-and-coming violent pop-quintet from Oulu, Finland, formed in September 2013. The band’s distinctive production offers the listeners unique rap- and electronic compositions, and a feisty package of kicking guitar riffs, without forgetting tenacious pop melodies. After their successful debut album, the band released their sophomore album “Blood Brothers” in April.
STICK TO YOUR GUNS – Hardcore
Melodic hardcore fans will be excited to see the American STICK TO YOUR GUNS‘ debut performance at Tuska Festival. With their determination and energetic brand of hardcore, a rhythm section tight as hell; we are getting a topnotch show. Check their latest album “True View”.
LAURI PORRA FLYOVER ENSEMBLE – Experimental
You might know him from being bass player of the power metal act Stratovarius, but he has many other talents. LAURI PORRA will perform at Tuska Festival with his FLYOVER ENSEMBLE. He recently released an album “Entropia”.
GRAVE PLEASURES – Post Punk
GRAVE PLEASURES have the unique ability to combine macabre, mystifying rock with a more pop-oriented flare. The post punk act reminds of early Bowie or early The Cure. Their latest album “Motherblood” is proof of talent with its grand melodies, melancholy and raw power.
TIMO RAUTIAINEN & TRIO NISKALAUKAUS – Heavy Metal
It used to go hand in hand. Tuska festival, TIMO RAUTIAINEN and his band TRIO NISKALAUKAUS. Before their hiatus in 2004, the band was supposed to play every year at Tuska Festival. But after reuniting and releasing “Lauluja Suomesta” the band is back for more, with a renewed energy.
CLUTCH – Hard Rock
For over 20 years American hard rock act CLUTCH have dominated the hard rock scene of America. With their groove and their latest album “Psychic Warfare”, the band will show us their worth on Tuska Festival.
IHSAHN – Progressive Metal
Most known for being the lead-figure of Norwegian black metal giant Emperor, IHSAHN nowadays is doing his own thing as a multi-instrumentalist. With influences such as heavy metal, black metal and classical music, Ihsahn’s music is definitely part of the progressive metal scene.
EUROPE – Hard Rock
Sweden has given us many bands over the years; but one of the most remarkable ones are still EUROPE. The band has scored some major hits such as “Carrie” or “Final Countdown”, but that doesn’t stop them from producing new songs. Their latest album “Walk The Earth” captures the spirit of the times when rock ‘n’ roll was still alive and kicking.
PARKWAY DRIVE – Metalcore
The Australian metalcore act PARKWAY DRIVE are true metalcore masters and one of the leading bands on the scene. Their relentless work with our after tour and a lot of soldout shows is proof of that. The band’s popularity has gone through the roof internationally and now it’s time to take over Finland. With a full production they are taking a stop at Tuska Festival right on time to celebrate the release of their latest album “Reverence”. Better be ready.
