Formed by former ENTOMBED members LG Petrov; Victor Brandt; Nico Elgstrand and Olle Dahlstedt; ENTOMBED A.D. have steadily managed to establish their own identity over the last five years. The band is now back with a brand new album names “Bowels of Earth”, which will be released on 30 August 2019 through Century Media Records.
“Bowels of Earth” is still a fine example of death ‘n’ roll, but often goes back to a more classic death metal sound. The album has an old-meets-new-school atmosphere to it. We can find that in compositions such as the explosive “Torment Remains”, a ferocious opening of the album. Equally aggressive, with great bass lines is “Elimination”. “Hell Is My Home” continues the fast pace of the former songs; and changes its tempo somewhere in the middle of the track; this pace change is excellent, and perhaps one of my personal highlights of this record. With the title track, the band crushes you with a hauntingly beautiful intro, that progresses into down-right brutal riffs. This song definitely will be a track that will hit hard once it’s performed live. “Bourbon Nightmare” feels like a death’n’roll track, with MOTÖRHEAD-like riffs, that rumbles. “Fit For A King” has an outstanding start, that taps a bit more into thrash and speed metal; this is a song that you will immediately bang your head to. The pace continues with “Worlds Apart”, and “Through The Eyes of The Gods”. One of the best tracks on the album, however, is kept for last: “To Eternal Night”. The track is loaded with doom metal riffs throughout the whole song, but keeps it death metal identity.
“Bowels of Earth” is probably the best ENTOMBED A.D. record up-to-date. With a classic crossover sound; the band has managed to create an album that contains a lot of fantastic guitar riffs, atmospheric melodies, and a grim atmosphere all together. Brining new elements into the mix, ENTOMBED A.D. have managed to create an outstanding album, that you will definitely enjoy if you have been an enthusiast of the path of the band so far.
