On the February 24th, 2023, there was a Gothic night at the Utopia Club in Turku. It was a rare occasion for Gothic rock enthusiasts to dress up and gather together to enjoy their favorite music.

The first band to perform that night was OHIKULKIJAT, a post-punk act from Rauma. Their set was very melodic, pleasant, and engaging. It was a somewhat poetic experience, where the classic vocals of Petri Vieno were accompanied by the pounding of drums and the wail of an electric guitar. The crowd was just beginning to fill out as they played.

The second band of the night was THE FLATFIELD, whose intriguing theatrical performance momentarily grabbed the attention of everybody present. Ville Grey’s dedication to his music is really something one notices immediately. The vocalist performed with such commitment that one simply had to feel the emotions pouring into the crowd from the stage. Another member of THE FLATFIELD that deserves recognition is their drummer; hidden at the back of the stage, he delivered a technically impressive performance.

The last band of the night was TWO WITCHES, a legendary Gothic band from Tampere. Their performance was powerful and intense, with great energy. The crowd was really into it, and the vibe was dark and eerie. The stage was dimly lit and the air was thick with smoke, adding to the atmosphere of mystery and tension. The band, dressed like dark Gothic aristocrats, in frock coats and lace, appeared on stage to a roar of approval from the audience. TWO WITCHES played a mix of old and new songs, each one more haunting and intense than the last. The crowd swayed and headbanged to the music, lost in the emotion and energy of the performance.
