On February 22nd, 2025, we had a chance to see INSOMNIUM and OMNIUM GATHERUM perform hand in hand, guitar in guitar, at Logomo in Turku. Their Beyond the Shadows of the Dying Sun tour truly is a unique one because both of the bands are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their albums released in 2015, “Shadows of the Dying Sun” for INSOMNIUM and “Beyond” for OMNIUM GATHERUM. On this tour, they’re performing both of the albums live, in their entirety, from beginning to end. Needless to say, this is a great opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane and travel back to 2015 when both of these albums were freshly released. Both “Shadows of the Dying Sun” and “Beyond” were crucial for their respective creators in terms of their impact on the melodic death metal scene and went down in history as the genre’s classics.
It was a great opportunity to hear fan favorites such as “While We Sleep” or “New Dynamic” being performed live after so many years. Both of the bands ignited the crowd and spread great vibes throughout the entire evening. It was a splendid night, reminiscing some of the true evergreens of the Finnish melodic metal scene, both for the older fans (like myself), who remember the release of both “Shadows of the Dying Sun” and “Beyond”, and for those just starting their adventure with “INSOMNIUM GATHERUM.” Check our photo gallery here…
