Chelsea Wolfe & A.A. Williams next month together in Tallinn for “The Dark” tour

Starting from Utrecht on November 21st, CHELSEA WOLFE will embark on the European leg of her The Dark tour, promoting her newly released 9th record (out since August 21st via Loma Vista Recordings). A few days later, on November 30th, she will reach Helitehas in Tallinn thanks to Damn.Loud Agency, and we are stoked to be able to witness once again the eerie beauty of her music.

The event will be a good occasion not just for the local fans, but for the Finnish ones as well: the last time the American artist performed in Helsinki dates back almost a decade (2017 at Sideways festival, as her following appearance, scheduled at the same festival for its last edition in 2024, was unfortunately canceled).

Having witnessed CHELSEA WOLFE play live last in 2024 at Roadburn in Tilburg, Netherlands, that performance is still deeply engraved in our memory as one of the highlights of that year in terms of music, visuals, atmosphere, and the emotional reach of that incredible night.

British A.A. WILLIAMS, also riding on the wave of her new, critically-acclaimed album “Solstice,” will accompany her American colleague for the duration of this tour. While we could recently appreciate the elegance of her post-rock music at the first edition of Ankea festival in Tampere early in June, we highly recommend not missing her show either, and especially seeing the two together represent a killer combination. For us, the concert at Ankea was one of our favorites of the event, despite the heavy rain, but we do feel this will hit even better when performing in a club show, given the intimate nature of her music.

Mixing dark folk, doom, industrial, and a variety of different influences throughout her vast discography, CHELSEA WOLFE has consistently worked her way up to become a staple for the fans of these gloomy atmospheres, and these days stands at the forefront in the realm of alternative music. Never shying from experimenting, as in the previous “She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She” with its expansive electronic soundscapes, with “The Dark” she changes direction again, going for a more stripped-back sound.

It’s a powerful effort with a grandiose, at times more engulfing sound, and a vibe that is certainly influenced by her emotional growth, in contrast with her previous release, resulting maybe in a more confident, polished outcome, but still maintaining an eerie uneasiness, and subtle nuances that reveal themselves the more one spins the record. Notably, among the collaborations we find also Icelandic post-punk trio KÆLAN MIKLA.

Another musician who takes a very emotionally charged approach to her music, A.A. WILLIAMS has been a frequent visitor of the Nordics at least since the release of her 2022 effort “As The Moon Rests,” with one club show and two festival appearances in Finland over the last 4 years, as well as a couple of shows in Tallinn over the same timespan. The relatability of her songwriting and the feelings it evokes in her fans is definitely one of the strongest points.

Adding to that, with a similarly dark approach to that of her fellow tourmate, the atmosphere of the night will surely be layered with a strong emotive charge and a palpable rollercoaster of feelings the kind only artists like these can evoke. If you are ready for an introspective, deeply touching night of music in the heart of Tallinn, you might not want to miss this opportunity!
