Tuesday evening, Dutch symphonic metal band WITHIN TEMPTATION did an acoustic stream on their Instagram account under the title “Together at Home” to raise awareness on the importance of social distancing, as well as to support the work done by the World Health Organization in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
This was part of the “Together at Home” series set up by Global Citizen in support of the World Health Organization, to promote social distancing and to make sure they have the tools they need to deal with this health situation.
Vocalist Sharon den Adel and KINGFISHER SKY guitarist Ivar de Graaf, who were staying at a safe distance one from the other, covered songs from WITHIN TEMPTATION’s entire discography starting with “What Have You Done,” which originally features Mina Caputo, followed by “And We Run,” which features Xzibit and “Stand My Ground.” Ivar de Graaf, who played drums on the band’s first albums, filled in, as the others were at home with the flu. The acoustic sessions also featured the hits “Faster” and “Supernova” from the band’s latest albums “The Unforgiving” (2011) and “Resist” (2019) respectively, before performing the classic “Ice Queen.” Closing the short but sweet session was “Neverending Story” from the band’s sophomore album “Mother Earth” (2000).
In between the songs, Sharon den Adel took the time to entertain the fans by responding to messages, playing with Instagram filters, and stressing the importance of staying at home these days and urging listeners to help WHO in their fight against this virus.
