Once upon a time, heavy metal was the only genre, but nowadays there are infinite niches to be filled with sub-genres and when pirate metal debuted with ALESTORM, we knew it was only a matter of time before other goofy, nerdy, and somewhat too-specific bands would follow suit. One of such bands is the dwarf metal group from Italy, of all place, known as WIND ROSE.

“Diggy Diggy Hole” was originally done by Yogscast member Simon Lane, but was expanded on and turned into a video later on:

Admittedly, while I am a huge nerd, I haven’t played a lot of Minecraft, so I didn’t know that WIND ROSE had covered the song. I just thought that another campy band had set out to make me laugh a whole bunch again and succeeded. It was only later that I discovered it was a cover of one of those things that is famous to certain people on the internet. Nevertheless, it is one hell of a funny song and a nice metal rendition of the original, and it definitely deserves a listen if you like the sort of metal (or covers) that are just silly enough to be wonderful.
