Directly from ROADBURN‘s camp, here is the reveal for the first part of the artwork created for the next edition by the Malleus collective, along with additional news including a new band announcement:
Community, Connection, Curiosity and Creativity. These ideas sit at the very heart of Roadburn, shaping what we do and where we go next. When Malleus returned to the festival earlier this year, bringing their incredible body of work to Tilburg for a special exhibition, something immediately clicked into place. Watching the connection between their art and our community come alive again felt like an old bond reinvigorated. So, we invited Malleus to bring their own curiosity and creativity to help connect the Roadburn community in 2027.
Today, we’re revealing the first part of Malleus’ artwork for Roadburn 2027: the opening panel of a triptych that will gradually unfold. Across three pieces, their world and ours will weave around each other like two merging cosmic entities. Two creative universes, a shared history and the same instinct to keep exploring beyond boundaries.
Formed in Italy by artists Lu, Urlo and Poia – with the latter two also known as members of Ufomammut – Malleus have developed an unmistakable visual language through illustration, screen printing, poster art and music. Their relationship with Roadburn stretches back many years, including creating the main poster artwork for Roadburn 2009. This new collaboration feels both like a continuation of that history and the start of a new chapter.

While diving into the Brazilian underground as part of our ongoing global explorations, we came across Antropoceno – the incredible project of Lua Viana – and immediately fell in love with what we heard. Antropoceno draws on Brazilian musical traditions, mixing them with experimental rock and metal. Their music explores our relationship with the Earth, rejecting the idea of nature as merely a resource and looking towards ancestral knowledge for another way forward. Now, as they prepare for their first ever journey to Europe, we’re so excited to welcome them that we simply couldn’t wait to share the news with you: Antropoceno will perform the remarkable No Ritmo da Terra in its entirety at Roadburn 2027.

Having a European tour by itself is a dream coming true, but it’s even better to have the opportunity to play at a festival that’s open to the environmentalist message and the multicultural fusion approach that comes with Antropoceno experimentations. It’s so important to have intercultural contact based on alterity and respect. I can’t wait to play Brazilian rhythms in Roadburn and show to our fans in Europe how the legacy of the Anthropophagic Movement can be felt to this day in all Latin America, and how rich and multifaceted our culture is.”
