Jyväskyla’s metal act SLASH THE SMILE are ready to release the third single, “Overrun,” of their upcoming debut album, “We All Smile,” to be released on May 24th, 2024.
The new single, “Overrun,” is a pop-infused composition by the band’s standards, with clean vocals dominating the overall sound. The creation of the song has further diversified SLASH THE SMILE‘s musical repertoire and developed their sense of melody. Additionally, the lyrics carry a personal message for the band members, as they reflect on the frustrations and disappointments encountered along the band’s journey. “Overrun” is, in a way, a cathartic song for the band, one that needed to be released from their system.
Since the song’s message is very personal, the band wanted the music video to be more personal than ever. The video was filmed in their rehearsal space without stage costumes, aiming to present a side of the band that has not been seen in official releases before. Additionally, the video is somewhat of a journey through the band’s past, including clips from both the making of the album and from the band’s gig travels. Ville Hartikka served as the videographer, and for the first time, guitarist Joel Toivanen edited the video. Watch the music video’s premiere here…
