Despite being an early weeknight, a sizable crowd gathered on Monday, October 7th, 2024, at Ääniwalli for the Finnish stop of 1349‘s tour, promoting their newly released album, “The Wolf & The King.” They were joined by their compatriots, KAMPFAR, celebrating 30 years of activity, and Danish band AFSKY, who were already familiar to many after their show earlier this year at On The Rocks.
The atmosphere was already electric when AFSKY took the stage, showcasing their talents and setting a strong tone for the evening. KAMPFAR, as engaging live as always, built on the energy created by the previous act, leaving the crowd eager for the headliners. This excitement certainly made it easier for 1349 to step in, delivering a set focused on the new album, as well as tracks from “The Infernal Pathway.” With the addition of intense lighting and smoke effects, the atmosphere became even more chaotic, prompting some to retreat from the front for a more relaxed view from the back.
In the end, KAMPFAR may have emerged as the night’s standout, thanks to the captivating grip they had on the audience and the intense performance of their vocalist, who frequently interacted with fans in the front rows. It goes without saying that this tour’s lineup was a strong one, with all three bands bringing their unique flair and giving the fans a compelling reason to attend—even on a Monday night.
