As someone who grew up listening to ’70s prog thanks to her dad’s taste in music (shout-out to all the YES and WISHBONE ASH households), it was never on my bingo card that a technical death metal band would be one of my most anticipated live acts of 2025. And yet, here we are. BLOOD INCANTATION‘s latest album, “Absolute Elsewhere,” turned out to be one of last year’s surprise prog highlights: dense, trippy, and way too smart for my tired brain, in the best way.
So, it wasn’t a huge shock when, after the announcement of BLOOD INCANTATION playing at Ääniwalli, the show got upgraded to Kulttuuritalo due to overwhelming demand. The band brought along Japanese Krautrock outfit MINAMI DEUTSCH, as well as the most aggressively cool T-shirt designs this side of the galaxy, resulting in the longest merch queue I’ve ever seen at Kulttuuritalo.
