GALLERY: 17-20.6.2026 Nummirock – Festival Extras @ Nummijärvi, Kauhajoki

Every summer, the shores of Lake Nummijärvi at Kauhajoki transform into one of Finland’s most iconic gatherings for heavy music. While Nummirock is celebrated for its impressive lineup, the festival has always been defined just as much by its people, its unique setting, and the unmistakable atmosphere that has drawn generations of metal fans together.

The 2026 edition that took place from 17th to 20th of June, carried special significance. The organisation behind the festival celebrated its 40th anniversary, while this year’s event marked the 39th edition of Nummirock itself, since the first ever Nummirock was held back in 1987. Respectable age nevertheless for any festival! Four decades of midsummer traditions, unforgettable performances, lakeside camping, and a community built around a shared passion for heavy music.

Across four days, thousands of festivalgoers once again embraced everything that makes Nummirock unique. The total visitor count reached 18 thousand this year. From carefully built campsite villages and battle jackets carrying years of memories to late-night conversations by the campfires and the relaxed atmosphere throughout the festival grounds, the weekend demonstrated why Nummirock remains one of the Nordic metal scene’s most beloved annual traditions.

This gallery shifts the focus away from the stages to capture the festival itself—the people, the surroundings, and the countless moments that unfold between the concerts. Together, these photographs document the spirit of Nummirock: authentic, welcoming, and proudly rooted in Finland’s heavy music culture.

See if you can spot yourself or your fellow campers!
