The supreme vocal duo of Netta Laurenne and Noora Louhimo are back again with LAURENNE/LOUHIMO‘s second single, “The Reckoning”! Already blasting us out of the water with their first release, “Bitch Fire,” this team are ready to knock fans out of their socks again with their sophomore single, which was released on June 10th, 2021, with its music video to follow.
These goddesses of whisky and wine are decked out in chunky jewelry and dressed in red for “The Reckoning,” as the video portrays them at a corrupted feast, covered in rats and cockroaches. The song opens on guitar lines with the vocalists coming in as the video shows an ambient yet seemingly abandoned building, with Netta slumped in a chair and Noora in a corner of different rooms. While still with a similar classic heavy metal feel to it, this track abandons the pure JUDAS PRIEST-y wails of “Bitch Fire” for some proper vocal grit. Musically, the song is catchy and well-made, but a bit on the straightforward side, which could be considered a downside but for the fact that the heavy metal foundation allows for the vocals to shine that much more.
With two singles teased already, we are getting more and more excited for what is to come from this partnership. Both vocalists are taking a vocal stance against bullying, promising that this album will have some words of empowerment to help people find themselves and stop getting emotionally trampled by others. Nothing is better than artists speaking about to make the world a better place, so I, for one, can’t wait for more!
