Dutch alternative metal act DEAR MOTHER release new song, “Threads,” with nods to nu metal. The Dutch metal act was founded by guitarist Merel Bechtold and vocalist David Pear. After the release of their debut effort, “Bulletproof,” the lineup was completed by Ferry Duijsens, Ruben Israel, and Desmond Kuijk. The band played their sixth show last year at the legendary cruise 70,000 tons of metal and this year, the band is performing at Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze.
DEAR MOTHER are releasing their new EP, “Necessary Darkness” independently. The album features songs where the band reflects on the past two years, which were quite heavy. Guitarist Merel Bechtold commented that due to having a lot of personal challenges in the past two years, it took the band a while to write a successor to “Bulletproof,” which made it impossible to meet up as a band and write music. That’s where the title, “Necessary Darkness,” stems from. You have to get through the hardships to continue with life. The EP felt like an experiment to the band and also a piece in the puzzle of what’s next for DEAR MOTHER. The band is currently writing songs for a new album.
