May 21st, 2021, will see Athens-based KHIRKI release their first full-length album entitled “Κτηνωδία.” On their debut, the Greek trio presents an enthralling mashup of metal, rock, punk, and traditional folk influences, featuring a cohesive set of eight mostly fast-paced, uplifting songs. Its progressive mood is infectious, mesmerizing by the tribal-like dancing chants, while “Κτηνωδία” (pronounced “Ktinodia”) dives deep into an original sound heavily spiced with Anatolian and Balkan folk music. Orchestrated by acoustic and traditional instruments highlight the seducing folk atmosphere; yet “Κτηνωδία” is heavy at heart, a metal record that will crush ears and minds!
After the previously-released songs, “Black And Chrome,” and just recently the high-voltage track “Bukovo,” KHIRKI have shared a final single, this time showcasing the more emotional and folk-infused facets of the album.
” ‘Wolf’s Lament‘ is the third and final single prior to the release of our album “Κτηνωδία” out on May 21st,” says the band. “Since our blend of metal is heavily influenced by Greek and Anatolian Folk music we wanted to make a slow, deeply emotional, and atmospheric song, where all these influences could have their chance to shine. The track deals with the subject matter of breaking up or parting ways with someone in an honorable manner. With a dignified silence, so to speak. When we played that song live people were really enthusiastic about it so we thought it would be a good idea to release it as a single. Enjoy!“
