The countdown has begun: there are only two days left until ALTER BRIDGE’S new self-titled album is released. Just before the official release of this new work, which will be the band’s eighth, they have just presented a new single: “Scales Are Falling.” This track explores the moment of understanding that comes with the discovery of deception and the emotional impact that the truth can have once it is revealed. Miles Kennedy himself has explained more details about the lyrical background of this single: “It’s when you realize the reality of a situation where you’ve been deceived. You see the truth and how hard it is.” To which Tremonti adds: “I was excited about this piece. It has an atmospheric feel with a lot of ups and downs and mood swings. I do the solo on the bridge and Myles plays the outro.”
This new release joins previous ones, such as “Silent Divide,” “What Lies Within,” and “Playing Aces.” However, this is only the beginning, as the album will feature a total of 12 new compositions. Songs like “Rue The Day,” “Disregarded,” and “Scales Are Falling” will fit right in alongside any of the classic songs in ALTER BRIDGE’S catalog. “Trust In Me” features Myles and Mark sharing vocal duties, with Myles handling the verses and Mark the chorus. That strategy is reversed on “Tested And Able” when Mark handles the verses and Myles the chorus behind one of the band’s heaviest intros to date, giving way to an unforgettable melody. The album song closer “Slave To Master” is an epic song that ALTER BRIDGE has become known for and is the longest song the quartet has recorded to date.
The album was once again produced with their regular collaborator, Michael “Elvis” Baskette, and was recorded over two months in 2025 spring between the legendary 5150 studio in California and the producer’s studio in Florida. With more than two decades of history together, ALTER BRIDGE faces this new stage with no signs of slowing down their creative activity.
The band will promote their new album through the “What Lies Within tour.” The European part of the tour will kick off on January 15 in Germany and end on March 5 in Nottingham. In Spain, they will offer two shows: on February 8 at Razzmatazz in Barcelona and on February 12 at Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid. In addition, they will be accompanied by DAUGHTRY and SEVENDUST.
The group also announced a US tour that will begin on April 25 in Orlando, Florida, and run until May 24, ending in Tampa, Florida.
