Let’s just say this: TURMION KÄTILÖT never disappoints – and let it set the tone for this whole review. I was transported back to my middle school years when, at the ripe age of 14, I looped “Irstauden ilosanoma” and screamed that the land of the thousand lakes and opportunities spreads itself before me like a “halpa huora” [cheap whore], which later on made me remember the word for “cheap” in Finnish forever.
So on January 21st, 2023, the industrial metallers from Kuopio, TURMION KÄTILÖT, arrived in Turku to shake the Utopia club to its core. The venue was packed to the brim, which was to be expected, since the concert sold out days before the actual date of the performance. Fashionably late, the band started with a huge blast. The stage was filled with intense lighting and the sound was thunderous. The atmosphere was electric and the crowd’s energy was palpable.
Everybody would agree that TURMION KÄTILÖT are an industrial metal powerhouse, which they show on stage, combining elements of metal, industrial, and electronic music to create a sound that was both intense and captivating. The two vocalists, MC Raaka Pee and Shag-U, absolutely dominated the stage, interacting with each other and the crowd throughout the whole gig. They kept up the energy for the entire set, which was a mix of new material as well as older songs, to the delight of yours truly.
The concert was a part of the tour promoting their newest album, “Omen X,” released just a week before, which solidified their position as the leading industrial metal act in the country. Overall, it was a fantastic night. The atmosphere was electric, the music was powerful, and the performance was intense. Check out our photo gallery below…
