What to expect at Brutal Assault 2025: Metalcore and Grindcore

Metal and deathcore community is a hell of a strong one. Thus, the promoters had to deliver!

For starters, French LANDMVRKS was added to the bill, who are prime example of the genre, balancing the heaviness of metal and the catchiness of pop at the same time. American ATTILA dubbed themselves as “Atlanta-Based Metalcore Villains.” Do they deliver on the promise? They definitely will bring atomic amounts of energy to the function, and let’s see how things will develop over time! One of the most important names in the Asian metalcore scene, CRYSTAL LAKE, are back at Brutal Assault after 6 years. Still as strong and robust as always, and still here despite plenty of line-up strife. KUBLAI KHAN TX leans more towards hardcore or beatdown. Very raw and aggressive, they’ll deliver a proper kick in the gut (music-wise, of course). TO THE GRAVE is an Australian deathcore act that deals with contemporary social issues, ecology, or even animal rights. All wrapped in the elegant wrapping of punishing deathcore sound. Slovenian WITHIN DESTRUCTION has a unique spin on deathcore as they tend to mix electronica alongside very aggressive tunes. It opened them to different, wider audiences and new sonic paths. Definitely one of the more interesting names on the bill. Core bands are one of America’s main export cargos, and lastly, Brutal Assault promoters invited Texan FIT FOR A KING, who will supply the demand for melodic and catchy metalcore.

Grindcore is a thing for connoisseurs of shouting vocals and this little thing called a sense of humour. It’s a vector sum of some good souls experimenting with thrash metal with hardcore and crust punk to absolutely annihilate the public with pure sonic joy. First of the band to be invited to Fortress Josefov is none other than American MACABRE. Dubbing themselves “murder metal,” which makes sense as they tend to focus on serial killers, murders, dark humour, and such lyrically. All that while destroying fans with thick and tasty death/grindcore sound.

There is probably no bigger name in Czechia than GUTALAX when we talk about goregrind. Dashing quartet will be back to Jaromer after 6 long years, so you better be stocked in toilet paper and other party gear. Attendance is compulsory, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for at least two crowdurfing toi-tois this time. Swedish GADGET serves an insanely deadly combo of grindcore, punk, death, black, doom, and sludge metal. They basically do as they please as long as it has the potential to mop the floor with most of the members in the audience. Lastly, BRUJERIA, which is one of Mexico’s most important extreme metal export products. After suffering the loss of Pinche Peach and Juan Brujo in 2024, they had no will to disband, even though they had their right to do so. The loss of two members who have been there from the beginning is no easy matter. And good for them, as we all need more hilarious Hispanic grindcore with raspy voices from overusing certain green supplements.
