Fresh-faced and new on the scene is a band that some might call a “supergroup” because it’s full of well-known artists: EMPERAGE debuted towards the end of 2023 with their first two songs, “Tear Down the Crown” and “Worthless,” to positive acclaim. Off to a very solid start, we’re now premiering their third single and first release of 2024, “Empire of Hate” for you today, before its official release tomorrow!
Atmospheric keys, grungy guitars, and epic lyrics are the name of the game with this new track. There’s a classic heavy metal intro, with hints of influence from a few of the Finnish greats, but very much with their own sound. The lyrics, as mentioned, are nonspecifically biting towards those in power, ignorance, and many of the other issues that are plaguing our world right now. Truly, one of the greatest combatants to hate is art, so songs like this are becoming more and more necessary in this day and age, and I, for one, welcome them wholeheartedly!
“’Empire of Hate’ is a song about conflict and struggle, as well as political and societal manipulation, touching on themes of war, deception, and the consequences of hatred. There is a desire for positive change despite the grim circumstances portrayed,” says vocalist Mikko Virtanen.
Emerging from the depths of their passion for metal music, EMPERAGE – a collaboration of well-seasoned musicians – are set to make their debut. With a deep respect for traditions and a fearless ignorance of genre boundaries, EMPERAGE have crafted a unique vision of death metal that’s bound to captivate audiences.
