It’s hard to describe Helsinki underground metal band, Beneath the Endless, so I’ll let them describe themselves for you:

1. The first song you remember hearing as a child
I think it’s one of those Finnish adult pop songs, like Esa Pakarinen – “Rovaniemen Markkinoilla,” Tapio Rautavaara – “Kulkuri ja Joutsen,” or Rauli Badding Somerjoki – “Paratiisi.” It’s because my father used to listen to Radio Suomi while on our trips to Lapland.
2. The first song you can recall ever really and truly loving
There are a few contenders for this one. I think its QUEEN‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” DEATH‘s “The Philosopher,” or YUP‘s “Normaalien Maihinnousu.” Each of these songs still resonates with me to this day.
3. A song that you loved as a teenager/reminds you of high school
Oh god… EIFFEL 65 – “Blue” and Bomfunk MC – “Freestyler.” Both these songs became hits right before I started upper elementary school. You know how kids are. They hear a song and they listen to it until it means nothing any more. So those were the songs that bunch of kids and I listened to during first years of upper elementary school. But high school in Finland starts at age 16. At that age I already stopped listening to the radio and started to listen a lot of metal and loaning albums from the library.
4. The song or band that got you into metal music (or the current genre you play in)
Well I got into metal through my big sister, so my first band was one of her favorite bands, SENTENCED, and I loved it as a teenager.
5. The most recent song to get stuck in your head
FLORENCE & THE MACHINE – “Dog Days are Over.” It’s because my girlfriend found PENTATONIX and they have an awesome adaptation of the song. Disclaimer: I also love the original version!
6. Your guilty pleasure song/band
My honest opinion about music is that there are no bad bands or musicians. There is only good or bad music. I came to this conclusion because there are good songs from musicians that don’t usually resonate with me and there are bad songs from usually good bands. However some metalheads might think it’s a guilty pleasure to listen to Bon Iver, PARIISIN KEVÄT, Macklemore‘s – “Thrift Shop,” or THE WEEKND – “Can’t Feel My Face.”
7. The first album you bought with your own money/the first album you were really excited to own
I finally got my hands on YUP – “Lauluja Metsästä” after having extensive listening periods to my sister’s YUP albums. I still remember most songs by heart and love the album thoroughly.
8. A song that makes you want to curl up on the couch with a hot beverage
Bon Iver – “Wash.” Just listen to it. You’ll understand.
9. A song to blast at full volume while you’re on the road
M.O.O.N. – “Hydrogen” or PERTURBATOR‘s “Miami Disco.” They aren’t exactly songs that pop into everyone’s head when they think of the open road, but I think they are awesome for being on the road.
10. The song you’d most like to be played at your funeral
Simon & Garfunkel – “The Sound of Silence.” The song speaks for itself.
