Psychedelic doom metal experimentalists ORBITER have released their debut album “Hollow World” via Argonauta Records on September 22nd, 2023. Concurrently, the band have also released a new music video for the song “Silence Breaks,” the opening track of the record. The video was directed by singer Carolin Koss, who is also a professional filmmaker and audio-visual artist.

Hollow World” represents both an expansion and a deepening of ORBITER’s sound. The four-piece from Helsinki, Finland, first landed onto the heavy music scene in 2020 with their EP “The Deluge.” They have built up a solid fan base through their atmospheric live performances, touring across the club circuit and festivals in Finland and Germany.

“Making Hollow World was a remarkable and memorable experience for us,” recounts guitarist Alexander Meaney. “We set out to create a dynamic album with lots of light and shade, grinding heaviness versus fragile tenderness, with a dash of bubbly psychedelia sprinkled on top. This was also the first time we’ve ever spent more than five minutes doing pre-production before entering the studio, and our producer Hiili had a big influence in shaping many of the songs to their final forms. During the recording sessions we maintained a spirit of sonic exploration and experimentation, and a lot of the time we didn’t know exactly what the outcome would sound like, which made the whole process all the more fascinating.”

ORBITER have previously released the singles “Raven Bones” and “Beneath” from the new album, the latter of which was accompanied by a music video directed by Hannes Renvall.

“Hollow World” was recorded at Coal House Studio and Soundwell Studio by famed HIM producer Hiili Hiilesmaa and sound engineer Sakari Ikonen. The album was mastered by Ted Jensen, who has previously worked with luminaries such as THE EAGLES, ALICE IN CHAINS, and MASTODON. “Hollow World” is available now on vinyl, CD, and digital editions.
