Finnish melodic death metal powerhouse HORIZON IGNITED is set to unleash their third album, “Tides,” on February 21, 2025, marking a new chapter in their journey to redefine the genre. Starting today, fans can pre-order the album and experience the next step in the band’s evolution with the release of their electrifying new single, “Prison Of My Mind,” accompanied by a gripping music video.
“Prison Of My Mind” showcases the band’s signature fusion of crushing riffs, emotional depth, and soaring melodies, tackling profound themes with precision and power. The song addresses the struggles of Alzheimer’s disease, reflecting the deeply personal and poignant lyrical themes that permeate “Tides.” The accompanying visualizer video is a visual tour de force that perfectly complements the song’s emotional intensity.
Singer Okko states:
“‘Prison Of My Mind’ is a groovy and melodic song while maintaining the heavy sound and feeling of the previous singles. The main riff and chorus are both super catchy as well so I think this will most likely be a great song for our live sets! The lyrics are about a man suffering from Alzheimer’s, how he is confused and scared, surrounded by strangers in a place he does not recognize. Constantly trying to find comfort and safety without success, he only wishes to feel alive and loved again, while having distant flashes of memories from his youth.
I wrote these lyrics because Alzheimer’s is just a horrible condition that actually brings me anxiety and I needed to express it somehow, so this is the result!”

The album was recorded together with Juho Räihä (guitarist of SWALLOW THE SUN) at Inka Studio in Orimattila, and the band fully unfolded during the process. The album was then mixed and mastered by Chris Clancy (MACHINE HEAD, KATAKLYSM) in the UK. This devilish duo perfected a huge album that grapples with the meaninglessness of life – and finds bliss and peace in it.
“We are very young and meaningless on the universal scale, but by collaborating and coming together, maybe we can find meaning in this cosmic void,” says the band. Let this be our new mantra. And “Tides” the soundtrack to this new era.
