Imagine a night when power metal reached its zenith… that’s precisely what happened when PSYCHEWORK arrived in Turku to perform a gig at Apollo on September 8th, 2023. I attended the concert without any prior knowledge of the band, allowing them to surprise me pleasantly, and what a delightful surprise it was! It was a powerful, epic, and technically solid performance, just as one would expect from a top-notch power metal act.
As a massive fan of both old KAMELOT and STRATOVARIUS, I couldn’t help but notice that PSYCHEWORK‘s vocalist, Anthony Parviainen, bore a striking resemblance to a well-balanced mix of Roy Khan and Timo Kotipelto. The songs they played were all absolute bangers and incredibly catchy. Even if you hadn’t heard of the band before the concert, you couldn’t resist headbanging like a mad person.
