On December 8th, 2024, we traveled to see the masters of black theatrical grandeur CRADLE OF FILTH in Tilburg at 013. The band brought along a bunch of other bands to support them: BLACK SATELLITE, MENTAL CRUELTY, and BUTCHER BABIES, so it didn’t take us long to decide we had to be there.
Before CRADLE OF FILTH took the stage we saw three other bands. BLACK SATELLITE a band hailing from New York had the duty to warm up the audience. I’m not sure how I would describe them when it comes to sound. They had a bit of industrial electronics mixed with their live sound. They got the audience going with a cover from RAMMSTEIN.
The next one on the bill was the German MENTAL CRUELTY, a band that plays a mix of black metal, death metal, and deathcore, in which vocalist Lukas makes guttural sounds; quite impressive.
Up next were BUTCHER BABIES hailing from Los Angeles. They brought more energetic metal this evening. Vocalist Heidi decided to sing in the middle of the audience and maybe because it was the last evening, Lukas of MENTAL CRUELTY joined in on the fun. It was clear that the band had a good time touring because they teased us a little more when their performance had just started and some crew and maybe band members came dressed and partied on stage.
Then finally it was time for the band from Sussex, CRADLE OF FILTH, to let their darkness shine on the stage. Dani‘s shrieks are surely impressive but tonight there was a good mix of various eras of their albums and for Dani to be a bit more versatile than during the festival show I had seen them last. They played a very tight set and Dani stepped back to let the guitarist shine as well. But not to forget the drums, keys, and vocals from Zoë Federhoff. Check our photo gallery here…
