On December 7th, 2024, Tavastia’s stage offered some rare treats with BLIND CHANNEL coming back to their roots after a 3-year hiatus from club touring, and not just for one, but two shows on the same day. The first show was without age restrictions, while the later one was for adults only.
Before BLIND CHANNEL hit the stage, we got to see ROCK BAND FROM HELL, who made the audience go wild with excellent stage charisma. As a completely unknown band to me, I didn’t know what to expect. It seemed I should have arrived at the venue well before the doors opened because I arrived only five minutes later, and the line was already circling almost halfway around the block. It didn’t move as quickly as I’m used to at Tavastia.
After I finally got in, I unfortunately missed the photo pit time. I was surprised by how engaged the audience already was, as I’ve gotten used to seeing half-empty venues with people just standing around with drinks in hand during the warm-up shows. The energy of this band was through the roof, and there were clearly some big fans in the audience—some even holding signs asking for guitar picks. ROCK BAND FROM HELL also brought merch to throw into the audience, rewarding the loudest cheers. Personally, my favorite of the night was the “Freestyler” cover played by the drummer Mikko Nykänen.
The headliner of the day, BLIND CHANNEL, didn’t let the energy drop after the previous band at all. It was actually a bit hard to keep up with the band members’ movements around the stage during my time in the photo pit, but this is exactly what I love when shooting shows—constant energy, showmanship, and excellent lighting throughout. At the end of the show, we also got to see Joonas Parkkonen who’s better known as Johnny Cruz who used to be the guitarist in SANTA CRUZ.
On this night, both bands delivered great performances for me and the audience. I’d definitely love to shoot more shows in the future from both bands. Check our photo gallery here…
