On this early autumn Sunday night, October 6th, 2024, we had the chance to see the third and final performance of OSSUARY‘s first three Finnish dates at Lepakkomies in Helsinki. Having discovered the band at KillTown Festival in Copenhagen (their European tour was arranged in collaboration with KillTown Bookings, with local dates courtesy of I AM Productions), and knowing two-thirds of its members from their time in JEX THOTH, we simply couldn’t miss the occasion.
The first band of the night was AZATOTH. These young guys from Vantaa have been gaining live experience by playing a slew of shows—we last saw them a couple of months ago at Helsinki DeathFest—and they’ve been steadily growing in both confidence and execution. Tonight, they delivered another solid performance, effectively warming up the crowd before DEAD VOID took the stage.
The death/doom trio, featuring former members (or live members) of bands like GRAVE MIASMA, CONAN, and VIRUS, was a positive surprise. Having released their first full-length album just a couple of years ago, they still have work to do to make a name for themselves, but they showed great promise. This tour will undoubtedly help them gain new fans.
Ultimately, OSSUARY confirmed what we witnessed a year ago in Denmark. The trio played a couple of new songs alongside material from their demos, easily captivating the crowd with the performance of their frontwoman, I, while M and N kept the rhythm tight on bass and drums, respectively. As always, when fully immersed in the music, their set felt almost too short. Then again, it wasn’t such a bad thing to end the gig relatively early on a Sunday night. We’re already looking forward to seeing them live again! Check our photo gallery here…
