On Friday, November 3rd, 2023, fans of metal gathered at Nirvana, one of Turku’s clubs, to enjoy an evening filled with quality music. Turku locals, SEPULCHRAL CURSE, was celebrating their 10th anniversary on stage, and to make the festivities even grander, they invited two friendly bands, ASHEN TOMB and CUMBEAST, to perform with them at Nirvana.
The evening kicked off with a concert by ASHEN TOMB, a band from Helsinki that has recently begun to make a name for itself in the Finnish black metal scene. Their performance was brimming with raw energy and primal intensity, setting the stage on fire and leaving the crowd cheering for more.
Following that was CUMBEAST, a band well-known to Turku’s metal audience. Their unabashed love for the grotesque and obscenity has garnered them many enthusiasts among local genre fans. It’s honestly hard not to be charmed by their undeniable appeal, even when they’re singing about encounters with a penis-shaped octopus with multiple ballsacks. I mean this without a hint of sarcasm—their concerts are always wildly entertaining and highly recommended for both genre fans and those with a cheeky sense of humor. You won’t regret it.
The final act of the night featured the birthday boys of SEPULCHRAL CURSE. They never disappoint, and this time was no exception. They delivered a brutally delicious set, reminding everyone why they had dominated the scene for a decade. Their performance was a perfect blend of guttural vocals and powerful riffs with a touch of occultism and mysticism. Check our photo gallery here…
