The black metal vibe took over Oslo as the Inferno Festival kicked off from March 28th, 2024, to March 31st, 2024, bringing together the heaviest and darkest sounds in metal. The Rockefeller and John Dee venues were buzzing with energy as fans gathered to experience a night of intense music. The lineup featured some of the genre’s most extreme acts, including KONVENT, KEEP OF KALESSIN, NORDJEVEL, CANDLEMASS, CRYPTA, and KAMPFAR headlining the night.
The first day on the main stage in Rockefeller started with the performance of KONVENT, a Danish quartet known for their crushing blend of death and doom metal, setting the mood with tracks like “Pipe Dreams” and “Puritan Masochism.” Next up was KEEP OF KALESSIN, a Norwegian band known for their extreme death metal sound. As the night progressed, it was time for NORDJEVEL to deliver a classic black metal show. The legendary CANDLEMASS brought a different vibe with their epic doom metal, captivating the audience with their haunting melodies.
CRYPTA, a rising force in the world of death metal, delivered a blistering set that showcased their formidable musicianship and relentless intensity. The all-female band proved that they are the new generation of death-metal goddesses.
Finally, it was time for the night’s headliners, KAMPFAR, to take the stage. The Norwegian black metal veterans commanded the stage with their fierce delivery and commanding presence, delivering a cool-looking performance with flaming torches and lots of smoke. KAMPFAR reaffirmed their status as one of the genre’s mightiest acts.
As the final notes faded into the night, and the echoes of the performances lingered in the air, it was clear that the first day of the Inferno Festival was a hit. From the crushing brutality of KONVENT to the majestic grandeur of CANDLEMASS and the unrelenting fury of KAMPFAR, each band had left an indelible mark on the minds of all who bore witness to their infernal rites.
