The third edition of Black Box Mikkeli, a two-day indoor music festival, kicked off with a bang on October 27th, 2023, at Saimaa Stadiumi in Mikkeli, Finland. Organized by the renowned melodic death metal act BLOODRED HOURGLASS, the festival brought together an array of prominent Finnish metal bands for a day filled with electrifying performances.
The first day of the festival started on a high note with the opening act, AS I MAY. The band’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, delivering a solid set that set the tone for the rest of the day. Following AS I MAY, alternative metal act LUNA KILLS took the stage. Their performance was marked by a natural energy that left the audience in awe. LUNA KILLS‘ ability to consistently bring this level of energy to their shows has made them an instant hit, marking a bright future ahead for the band.
HUORA continued the trend of energetic and solid performances. Their set resonated with the crowd, and they proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with on the live stage. The evening took a thrilling turn as BEFORE THE DAWN performed their final show before embarking on a European tour. The band left no stone unturned, providing a spectacle complete with pyrotechnics and an abundance of high-octane energy.
STAM1NA who had recently released their album “X,” was a highly-anticipated act. Their new setlist did not disappoint, delivering a dynamic show that had the audience drenched in sweat and headbanging with fervor. STAM1NA reaffirmed their reputation for always delivering a powerful live performance.
The first day of Black Box Mikkeli 2023 brought together a diverse lineup of great talent from the Finnish metal scene. Each act, in their own unique way, contributed to the festival’s energetic and dynamic atmosphere. With a good mix of metal, the day was a resounding success, setting the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable two-day event.
