Ready for the second day of this Two Nights of Decent Heavy Metal event, we headed straight down to the basement of Bar Loose, waiting for the first of tonight’s three bands to begin. With two big banners covering each side of the stage, the guys from PESTIGORE made their entrance and offered some good old-school Finnish death metal, mixing their classics from the demo era (recently gathered into a new compilation called “Rotten Bowel of Pestigore”) as well as some new songs.
KOVAA RASVAA was as intense as the last time we saw them live, which was honestly way too long. Their energy is always contagious, and the singer certainly knows how to grab the attention of their crowd. Their hardcore punk undeniably has a significant impact, making it a pleasure to watch them perform. Also, due to their genre, they clearly had the longest setlist of this two-night event.
Finally, DEATH STRIKE. There was still some delay in the setup, but things went slightly better than the previous night for the trio, who seemed to be taking things in good spirits and began the set with “The Truth.” Interweaving MASTER (“Pledge of Allegiance,” “Master”) and DEATH STRIKE material (unsurprisingly from “Fuckin’ Death”) in their set, things worked better than the previous night, also in terms of performance. The audience was rewarded for their dedication with an extra encore at the end of the show. The night continued then in the bars of the capital since the DJ night was starting soon at the venue, causing most people to leave.
These were indeed two nights of Decent Heavy Metal. Thanks, Speckmann, and everyone else – of course, all the other bands involved as well – for this!
