Beyond The Gates Festival, held annually in Bergen, Norway, featured a powerful lineup of black and extreme metal bands. This year’s festival took place from July 31st to August 3rd, with key performers including MAYHEM, BEHEMOTH, VENOM, WATAIN, SATYRICON, and many more.
On the third day of Beyond The Gates, the festival moved as usual to its secondary venue, Grieghallen. At this venue, SATYRICON fans could enjoy the exhibition, Horns & Diadems, featuring the band’s photos captured by various photographers from different periods of their career.
DJEVEL opened the evening at Grieghallen with an atmospheric set lit only by a few candles on stage. With a mix of piercing riffs and dark, poetic lyrics, DJEVEL delivered a performance deeply rooted in black metal’s old-school spirit. DJEVEL’s concert was followed by ENSLAVED performing their iconic album “Frost,” which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Following that, it was time for the headliner of this year’s Beyond The Gates festival, SATYRICON. SATYRICON performed the first part of their special set “Horns & Diadems,” showcasing their evolution as one of black metal’s most influential bands. This evening’s “Horns & Diadems” featured songs such as “Du som hater Gud,” “Commando,” “Nemesis Divina,” “Hvite Krists død,” and “Phoenix,” with guest vocalist Heidi Ruud Ellingsen. The audience responded with overwhelming enthusiasm, singing along and headbanging to every note.
Beyond The Gates‘ third day ended with a performance by AURA NOIR at the smaller venue nearby, Kulturhuset.
The third day of the festival was a celebration of Norwegian black metal heritage, with DJEVEL, ENSLAVED, and SATYRICON’s iconic performances honoring both the genre’s past while pushing its boundaries into the future. Check our photo gallery below…
