The annual Nummirock was ahead of us yet again, and it is already known to be one of the finest ways to celebrate Finnish midsummer holiday Juhannus! Nummirock is a long-running metal festival held by the lake in Nummijärvi, Kauhajoki. The 2025 edition took place from June 18th to 21st, bringing together metal fans from across the country and beyond for the midsummer madness that is Nummirock.
With the weather forecast looking mostly wet, cold, and windy — including periods of heavy rain and strong gusts of wind on multiple days — first-time visitors got a proper taste of what Nummirock is often best known for: its sense of community and the unpredictable climate the area has.
Some camps took damage from the wind, and a few tents even flooded. But as expected, festivalgoers stayed true to the spirit of the event. Those in need of a dry place or a helping hand rarely had to look far — there was always someone nearby offering support. It’s no surprise that the festival continues to draw loyal crowds year after year, and the reputation it has is very much earned. And hey, at least it didn’t rain snow this year (Yes, we’ve seen it happening before!).
This year’s lineup featured international acts like MARDUK, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, ALESTORM, and DECAPITATED, while the domestic roster was larger than usual. Headliners included long-time festival favorites like MOKOMA, TURMION KÄTILÖT, and STRATOVARIUS, alongside first-timers such as RELAXTRIO and NOIDUIN. And true to tradition, the schedule also included some not-so-metal performances from acts like BUSINESS CITY and HEVISAURUS.
Despite the interesting variety of artists, this photo gallery turns the lens toward the other side of the experience however: the crowd, the campgrounds, and the surroundings. Aiming to document the everyday reality of the festival — from muddy boots to shared shelters, and from lakeside calm to late-night chaos and joyous moshpits.
Whether you’re a long-time attendee battling #PND (Post-Nummi Depression) or just curious about what happens beyond the music, scroll through the gallery below and see if you can spot yourself — or a friend.
