Thursday’s concert at Hulen, the oldest rock club in northern Europe, on January 18th, 2024, began with a solo performance by Karin Park, who also serves as the pianist for the main act of the evening, ÅRABROT. Karin Park delivered an atmospheric concert, kicking it off with the lighting of incense sticks that filled the stage with smoke. Her performance was remarkably serene, and the synthpop sounds of songs like “Glasshouse” did not foreshadow what was to come. An hour later, she returned to the stage, this time accompanied by Kjetil Nernes, the vocalist and guitarist of ÅRABROT. The audience at Hulen erupted with enthusiastic shouts as ÅRABROT delivered a dynamic show, performing tracks like “We Want Blood,” “Cathedral Light,” and “Carnival of Love.” The performance concluded with Karin‘s leap into the audience. Without a doubt, it was one of the best concerts I have witnessed in the last few months, and for those unfamiliar with ÅRABROT‘s music, their performance may be a pleasantly surprising experience.
