EPICA and AMARANTHE joined forces for a massive co-headlining tour, which made its way to the Black Box in Helsinki on March 14th, 2026, with Charlotte Wessels appearing as a special guest. The result was a diverse and dynamic evening, bringing together different shades of modern metal under one roof.

Charlotte Wessels and her band THE OBSESSION once again proved why they are such a joy to watch live. At this point, it almost feels overdue for them to embark on a proper European headlining tour of their own—hopefully that’s the next step. Their set focused largely on material from “The Obsession,” while also introducing the powerful new single “After Us, the Flood” and an unreleased track, “Tempest,” which already sounds like a future standout.

For EPICA, this show marked a long-awaited return to Helsinki after 9 years. In fact, their last appearance at Tavastia holds a personal significance, as it was the first show we ever covered for Tuonela Magazine. Expectations were understandably high, and the band delivered. The setlist leaned toward their more accessible and melodic material—likely to better complement the co-headlining format with AMARANTHE—but it worked well in a live setting. A special highlight was Charlotte Wessels joining the band on stage for “Sirens – Of Blood and Water,” adding an extra layer to an already memorable performance.

AMARANTHE, meanwhile, stuck fairly closely to their previous setup both in production and setlist, which may have felt a bit familiar for returning viewers. That said, their production was nothing short of mesmerizing, with an impressive light show that elevated the entire performance. As always, they knew exactly how to engage the Helsinki crowd and once again delivered a highly entertaining set.
