On June 13th, 2024, three metal bands arrived at Turku’s Nirvana from all around Europe to play some pretty heavy music for everyone in attendance.
The first band of the night was the black metallers from Tornio, CURSE UPON A PRAYER, who are just about to release their fourth full-length album, “The Worship: Orthoprax Satanism,” on July 26th. They started strong with a wall of tremolo riffs, while the frontman growled like a beast from beneath a truly impressive corpse paint job.
Then there was a shift in both geography and tempo when the Italians from SHORES OF NULL took to the stage. They played an interesting, varied set with mixed clean and harsh vocals and some atmospheric influences. However, there was no shortage of heaviness either. It was a show that a fan of every metal subgenre would genuinely enjoy.
The headliner of the night was DARK OATH, a quintet from Portugal playing truly epic melodic death metal. The band, led by a charismatic vocalist SARA LEITAO, delivered a set consisting of their most popular songs, including bangers like “Land of Ours” and “Iron,” the absolute fan favorite. If you’ve never listened to DARK OATH and you enjoy just a bit of epicness in your everyday life, you’d do yourself a favor by giving them a chance.
