Finally, the world has allowed BEAST IN BLACK‘s Dark Connection Tour to take place, after having been postponed following the NIGHTWISH Human Nature European Tour, of which the band were one of two support acts (TURMION KÄTILÖT being the other). This time, boasting the headlining slot, BEAST IN BLACK stopped over in Vienna on February 13th, 2023.
Special guest FIREWIND opened the night and the venue was pretty packed from the beginning. They delivered a really good concert and I heard some people in the crowd discussing how positively surprised they were about the show having been very energetic and filled with good vibes. The Greek power metal band interacted a lot with the audience. From the response, we gathered that they were really warmed up after their show, especially after one final banger, a cover of “Maniac.”
When it was finally time for BEAST IN BLACK‘s set, the sold-out venue was filled to its maximum capacity and people of different ages were vibing to BEAST IN BLACK‘s music. The stage was adorned in style with the “Dark Connection“ album, with two really cool female cyborgs hanging in the back, as if the stage was some kind of post-apocalyptic laboratory. The setlist was an even mix between the band’s entire 3-album discography. BEAST IN BLACK never disappoint, with incredibly engaging and uplifting concerts, and it was no surprise that a lot of people were singing, clapping, jumping, crowdsurfing, and to our biggest surprise, moshing. There was an inevitable ocean of flash lights up when they performed their balled, “Oceandeep.”
