MAJ KARMA (formerly known as MAJ KARMAN KAUNIIT KUVAT) is a well-known band in the Finnish rock scene. They’ve released 10 albums since forming the band in 1992. Many of the albums have reached the top 10 most-played charts upon release, and the band is renowned for their great live performances. The quartet is now on their final tour. At Tavastia, Helsinki, two consecutive nights were sold out, and after that, they’ll perform a few more times at different festivals. The band’s melancholic love songs attracted the most enthusiastic fans to the front row, who were already there 1.5 hours before showtime, talking with each other about past gigs and experiences. We attended their show on July 12th, 2024, at Tavastia.
During the gig, the band was clearly having fun and enjoying their time. They were telling jokes and sharing stories about the songs. The show the previous night had many technical issues, which the band laughed about. The audience loved the show, singing the lyrics of the songs and requesting their favorites. To everyone’s surprise, including the band’s, they actually played two songs that were not on the setlist. These unrehearsed songs were from their first albums and hadn’t been played in a while.
The gig ended with a long encore set, after which the band went through all the front-row fans to exchange a few words, handshakes, and sometimes even hugs. This was a truly great gesture from the band, showing that they care for their audience. The Finnish rock scene will not be the same without them. Check our photo gallery here…
