After releasing their fourth studio album, “Greif,” just ten days prior, ZEAL & ARDOR arrived at Warsaw University’s club, Proxima, on September 1st, 2024. Although the tour promoting “Greif” is mostly in collaboration with HEILUNG, the Swiss band came to Warsaw alone, with local black metallers DOM ZŁY as support.

DOM ZŁY released their second LP earlier this year, “Ku Pogrzebaniu Serc,” and played several songs from that album in Proxima, such as “Dla Świata Umierać” and “Nie Pamiętam Siebie.” They’re one of those bands that you see live and can’t stop thinking about afterward, diving into their discography and getting absolutely hooked. Give them a listen—it’s worth it.

ZEAL & ARDOR delivered a set very similar, if not identical, to their previous setlists before “Greif” was released, including songs from the new album, “Clawing out, Kilonova, Sugarcoat, and “to my ilk.” They started strong with fan favorites “Wake of a Nation” and “Gotterdammerung,” followed by “Erase,” “Blood in the River,” and “Death to the Holy.” Every now and then, Manuel—the lead vocalist and guitarist—would introduce the next song by saying, “The next song is an angry one,” as if he knew exactly what the audience came for.

Every ZEAL & ARDOR concert is an experience I’d recommend to anyone. I hope Poland remains a fixed spot on every tour because they have a dedicated fanbase there. This was proven in Warsaw when Poles preferred attending a ZEAL & ARDOR ritual over going to church on a Sunday. After all, “Church Burns” anyway. Check our photo gallery here…
