FEATURED SINGLE: Pihka is My Name – Binaries (Musicalypse Archive)

“I was left alone, I was abandoned. I was imagined by this boy who had no friends. I was his imaginary friend. I was. He doesn’t need an imaginary friend anymore. I am happy for him… but where will I go now? What will I do? Am I needed in this world?

Would you imagine me?”Pihka is My Name, Facebook

If the description above doesn’t say enough, PIHKA IS MY NAME is a two-person project about a little robot who is no longer needed as an imaginary friend, thus going off on an adventure of her own. This concept album was first announced in early spring 2020 along with the release of the music video, “Binaries,” featured above.

The instrumental electronic music is ambient and emotive, clearing telling a tale though it’s hard to tell what it might be without the context of the rest of the songs and their names. The digital style is sweet and tugs gently at the heartstrings as the images streak and pixelate through their transitions. Not only that, but the music has potential to draw in crowds both young and old through the combination of complex music and a likable cartoon character.

“Binaries” manages to be a captivating and intriguing piece by these newcomers and the little information with which they have teased us makes us instantly interested in hearing and learning more about the music and its story.
