As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with indie electro act THE MOON TREES to hear how they experienced 2024.
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. This is a short recap of 2024. How would you say 2024 has been for THE MOON TREES?
The year 2024 has been great, as we finally completed our first album, “Walk Through the Shadows,” and we are really happy with it.
You released some new music (and are releasing some more in 2025) did you balance the year between writing music and preparing for the release?
At the beginning of the year, we focused mainly on finalizing the album. Once it was completed, we shifted our attention to promotion and planning for the release. We’ve also been rehearsing for live gigs throughout the autumn. It’s been rewarding to see all the hard work come together, but we’ve also made time to develop new ideas and songs.
What are some of the highlights you experienced with THE MOON TREES?
The highlight of this year has definitely been the completion of the album “Walk Through the Shadows.” We worked on it for almost 4 years, so it’s amazing to finally share it with others.
Did you (re-)discover any music that you would like to share with us?
Here are a few albums released this year that we’ve enjoyed:
- THE SMILE – “Wall of Eyes“
- THE CURE – “Songs of Lost World“
- Kacey Musgraves – “Deeper Well“
It’s also worth mentioning the single “Something’s Got to Change” by the Finnish band KEMOPETROL.
Also, here are a few albums that never fail:
- Steven Wilson – “To the Bone“
- YEBBA – “Dawn“
- RIVAL SONS – “Darkfighter“
- FLEETWOOD MAC – “Rumours”
- GENESIS – “A Trick of the Tail“
What are THE MOON TREES’ plans for 2025?
We will release one more single “The End,” in January, followed by the full album on February 7th, 2025. The album release gig will take place at On the Rocks on February 12th, 2025. A few other gigs are already scheduled, and we hope to play many more gigs throughout next year.
