As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with Jyväskylä-based Suomirock act NELOSOLUT to hear how they experienced 2024.
Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer these questions about 2024. Let’s start with an obvious one, how has 2024 been for NELOSOLUT?
The year 2024 has been very proactive and busy for us, we have been doing a lot of shows in our hometown Jyväskylä but also in other big cities as well (Helsinki, Tampere, etc.) and at the same time working on the new album in great detail.
You released a few singles during 2024, how have the reactions been so far?
The reactions to singles have been very positive! All the songs have been included on Spotify Finland’s official playlists (New Music Friday etc.) and our stream numbers have risen to a whole new level with the publishing of these songs. We have also received a lot of positive feedback from our fans about the released songs and they are clearly creating an impact among the listeners.
Your second album is coming later in February, would you say that most of your time went to working on this new album?
As mentioned, we have been doing shows at the same time as working on the album, but we have still kept high standards during the process and the new age of technology has made us able to work on the album even though all of us were not always able to be physically present in the studio. But especially during this fall, we have cut down the amount of shows and really focused on the little details of the production so we get the best possible end result for this upcoming record.
What were some of the biggest challenges or the greatest highlights you went through in 2024?
The year 2024 was very memorable for the band and it is hard to choose one exact highlight as there were so many amazing experiences. One of the most exciting shows that we did was performing at Espan Lava in Helsinki in May, it is probably the biggest and most prolific venue we have performed in so far! Another exciting experience was having for the first time two shows in one night (3 overall that weekend), the whole day was really chaotic but quite memorable. During that weekend we also filmed a music video so overall, it was a very crazy weekend for us. Outside doing shows, the highlight was to start working with our current producer Joel Lindfors from Lindfors Productions who has helped us to reach a whole new level in composing. At the same time, the process of creating this album has been the most challenging part of this year but in a good way. This more demanding and professional atmosphere in the production has challenged us all to bring out our best in our playing and it has developed us a lot as musicians overall. Production-wise one highlight was also that we produced 4 music videos during this year which has been quite new to us and an upgrade to the past.
Other than an album, do you have anything else planned in 2025?
For the year 2025, our plan is to do as many shows as we get our hands on to promote our new record and keep the momentum going by creating new song ideas to work on more in the future. We’ll start the album promotion tour in February with our album release gig, which is also our 5th-anniversary celebration show! More ambitious goals for the upcoming year are to sign a recording and touring contract to get our music and the band to a nationwide scale.
