2024 IN MUSIC: LUNA KILLS

As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with alternative metal act LUNA KILLS to hear how they experienced 2024.

2024 was a huge year for LUNA KILLS, with lots of shows, some new music, and a very special announcement. What were some of your personal highlights of 2024?

2024 was definitely a ride, with a lot going on throughout the year in front and behind the curtain at all possible times. Though it was super hectic it all felt like the years of hard work and trusting our process really paid off. Our personal highlights of the year were playing at Tuska, the biggest metal festival in Finland, finally getting to announce our next album, as well as forging new partnerships with SharpTone Records, Nahka Agency, and X-ray Touring.

You also had your first outing to the Netherlands with the band as a support to DEAR MOTHER. How do you look back on that experience?

Our short but eventful trip to the Netherlands was also one of our highlights! We got to play really nice venues with the ultimate luxury of short traveling distances between cities we played in and made a bunch of new friends!

Despite having been busy with a lot of shows, you also seemed to have been really active with writing new music, so how has it been balancing the two?

Reflecting back to last year when we were pondering the same question and came to the conclusion that this is the hardest aspect for us to figure out, this year it still stays the same. In 2024 we gladly had only a few loose ends to tie for the upcoming album regarding the music side of it, but obviously we had more other things to prepare such as all the videos/photos, artwork, etc. so as always it has been jumping from A to B in a constant loop, but when you see your work paying off, it feels rewarding.

Did you (re-)discover any new music during 2024?

MAKE THEM SUFFER was probably the most impactful find for us all collectively, we saw them live at Tuska as well, they are so energetic it’s infectious. Other finds from the top of our heads are L.A.-based metal singer-songwriter FREAK, who writes really raw nu-metal/cyberpunk style of music, also the whole soundtrack of Arcane 2 is bomb!

What can fans expect from LUNA KILLS in 2025?

Gladly they can expect a lot of new music since our new album “DEATHMATCH” is to be released on April 4th,2025! Also, we plan on playing as many live shows as possible (as always) and there are a bunch of them already announced for next spring and summer with more dates to be announced!
