As we kick 2024 out the door and welcome 2025 with open arms, join us for a series of interviews with artists who’ve braved the year’s riffs, breakdowns, and questionable soundchecks. We’re diving into their triumphs, challenges, and everything that kept the music industry alive and kicking. We sat down with the Italian progressive metal act DGM to hear how they experienced 2024.
Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview. This is a short recap of what 2024 was like for you. Let’s start with the obvious, how was 2024 for you?
Andrea: Hi and thank you for this interview! 2024 has been a year full of new music for us, we released “Life” in November 2023, and in 2024 it was still “on the wave” and then we dropped “Endless” one month ago. We promoted the previous album during the spring/summer of 2024 around Europe and we started promoting “Endless” in Japan in November. We can say that we have not wasted any time during 2024 and many other things are yet to come.
What musical goals did you set for 2024? Did you achieve them?
Andrea: The main goal we had for this year was the release of “Endless.” We have been working on that album for months, and we really wanted the album to come out before 2025. So, yes, we achieved what we’ve planned. Especially because the album is getting lots of very good reviews and people seem to appreciate very much our “new direction.”
Were you able to dedicate as much of 2024 to your project/band as you had hoped?
Andrea: Yes, we invested lots of energy in promoting “Life” and giving birth to “Endless” and all of those energies have been paid back. The “Endless” release and promotion are going great and we’re totally satisfied at the moment.
What were some of the highlights you realized in 2024?
Andrea: as mentioned above, we pushed the promotion for the “Life” album and worked hard to make the release of “Endless” happen before 2025. Then a Japan tour for “Endless” promotion and many plans for the new year.
Is there anything you learned during 2024?
Andrea: Nothing special to be honest, we just worked hard as always, we do.
Have you (re-)discovered any new music during 2024?
Andrea: Not really, we always go back in time feeding our musical taste by listening to old progressive bands like KANSAS, SPOCK’S BEARD, JETHRO TULL, MARILLION, KING CRIMSON…..there has not been not too much space for the new releases in our playlists.
What can we expect from you in 2025?
Andrea: We are now focused on the promotion for the last release, we have many gigs and festivals to be confirmed and we have the idea to play the new album around as much as possible.
